Entrance exams are not easy to prepare for at all. From the beginning to the very day of your exam, every minute is stressful. But if you want to appear for exams like JEE Advanced or MH-CET, stressing or procrastinating is not an option. You have to buck up, get your head in the game and keep going.
While a lot of students prefer taking classes for entrance exams, others cannot afford to. In that case, studying diligently at home is the only option left for them. The following tips will help you study better at home:
1. Study Plans and Schedules
Create study plans for yourself. When appearing for a competitive exam, there is no scope for lagging behind and leaving your work for the next day. You have to plan your entire day from your study timings to your sleep schedule. You do not have the option of wasting your time. Even recreational activities should be scheduled but make sure that you do not skip them. It is important to recharge your mind and body to study and concentrate better.
2. Keep practising
When you prepare for an entrance exam, it is important to keep practising the same thing over and over again. No matter how many times you think you know the concept, you will discover something new to learn. Repeat your questions and answer them as many times as you can. Use a homework app if necessary.
3. Solve papers
Solve as many papers as you can get your hands on. Even when you have solved them once, do it again. Thai practice ensures that the concept and the solution are ingrained into your brain for the long term. Use different board papers and solve them. Utilize the ICSE or CBSE solutions available on the internet to solve the papers.
4. Ask doubts
It is crucial that you clear your doubts as and when they pop into your mind. Ignoring a doubt will cause you to forget it and then later it will cause problems in your understanding of the concept. Ask your friends, relatives, teachers, anyone who you think will know the answer. Ask and clear your doubts.
5. Take notes
Make it a habit to take notes and then revise them later. This notetaking habit will help you in the future. You understand the concepts better when you write them on paper. Simply typing them out on your laptop is not enough. There is a certain charm about handwritten notes that not only is great to look at but is also helpful in remembering what you have written.
6. Understand yourself
Know what suits you and what does not. Understand your studying habits and what methods of studying suit you and what don’t. The better you know yourself, the easier it will be to study. Learn what distracts you the most and what helps you remember things easily. Keep track of your habits and overcome the bad ones.
